Biography
Wayne Gaskin's professional funeral service career spans over thirty years. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and entered funeral service as a part-time job while attending Jacksonville University. His formal funeral service education was completed through the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas.
In 1971, he became registered through the National Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards and maintains National Board Certification. Originally practicing in Florida, Mr. Gaskin reciprocated his Funeral Service licensure in 1987 as an Embalming and Funeral Directing practitioner with the State of North Carolina.
Mr. Gaskin was previously employed with Service Corporation International, the nation's largest funeral service provider. During his tenure with SCI, he served the Charlotte metropolitan area in various management positions for that company. Through his funeral service experiences, Mr. Gaskin came to realize that primarily families had not only become frustrated with the high costs of services generally available through traditional resources, but he had also become concerned with the extreme pressure of commercialism and seemingly lack of sensitivity they faced on one of the worst days of their lives.
I n 1999, he entered private funeral practice in response to an overwhelming public consensus for the need of compassionate, superior caliber, yet less costly, traditional funeral and cremation services.
The predominant focus of this practice has become making available high quality, individualized, options and alternatives for final care that is only accompanied with extraordinary personalized service.
Wayne and his wife, Shan, have been married 31 years raising their family in the Matthews area and are active members at Central Church in Charlotte. Shan is a Curriculum Coordinator with the Union County School System, having previously served as a teacher with that county since 1988.
