Biography

Wayne Gaskin’s professional funeral service career span over fifty years. He grew up in Jacksonville Florida and entered funeral service while attending Jacksonville University. His formal funeral service education was completed through the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas.

In 1971, he became registered through the National Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards and maintains National Board Certification. Originally practicing in Florida, Mr. Gaskin reciprocated his Funeral Service licensure in 1987 as an Embalming and Funeral Directing practitioner with the State of North Carolina.

Mr. Gaskin was previously employed with Service Corporation International, the nation’s largest funeral service provider. During his tenure with SCI, he served the Charlotte metropolitan area in various management positions for that company.

Through his many funeral service experiences, Mr. Gaskin came to realize that 21st-century families had not only become frustrated by status-quo offerings of the past but also the rising costs for those services which were only available through traditional resources. He had also become concerned, through observation, with the extreme pressure of commercialism and seemingly lack of sensitivity families were facing (in many cases) on one of the worst days of their lives.

In 1999, he entered private funeral practice in response to a growing public consensus for the need for an alternative approach to end-of-life care.

Compassionate, superior caliber, and cost-conscience traditional funeral and cremation services, accompanied with extraordinary personalized service, are the predominant focus of Gaskin Funeral Services today.
