Amanda Maree Helms
On Friday, October 1st of 2021, Amanda Maree Helms departed from this life to be with her Heavenly Father. Amanda was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Maree Letson, her father, Aaron Lane, her sister, Rita Maree Burleson, and her son, Andrew Jacob Blackwell.
Amanda is survived by her husband, Randy Earl Helms, her sons, Brian Blackwell and Stephen Helms, her daughter, Kayla Piccirillo, her brothers Danny Maree and Buddy Maree, and three grandchildren, Hunter Helms, Brandon Helms, and Angel Helms.
Amanda was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended West Charlotte Highschool. As a young woman, Amanda found purpose and happiness in helping raise her family, including her niece, Crystal, and nephew, Jason. It was in the Oakdale community that she met and married the love of her life, Randy. Together they created a blended family of six and began their careers together as co-owners of Oakhill Deli & Grill. She was esteemed by the community for her holiday pies and homemade fudge.
Amanda’s beauty was truly beyond compare. Her radiance was a magnet that drew others into her presence. Her tender heart and generosity blessed countless people who crossed her path. She had the ability to know your needs without asking and made sure that nobody went without. She could relate to others with impeccable warmth and ease, but was never hesitant to tell you how it was. Amanda loved the Lord and was very active at Crossroads Community Church. She also loved traveling to Cape Hatteras and spending countless hours walking the beach to find seashells. In more recent years, Amanda found incredible joy in caring for her three grandchildren. After retirement, it became her top priority to spend as much time with them as possible.
Amanda will be deeply missed by her friends and family. We are grateful that she is no longer suffering, and look forward to the day we can be together once more.
Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 11th, . Amanda was truly an amazing person in my life and so many others. I have so many memories with her. I remember when I first met Amanda. Stephen and I came over to tell Amanda, Randy and Kayla I was pregnant. She was so warm and never judged me once. We took the kids on vacation to Myrtle Beach and had such a great time. Amanda always made time for her family. She was always very caring and loving but she would tell you when you did wrong. The last conversation I had with her was sad but very pleasant. When I left that day I told her I love you and hugged her goodbye. I didn't know that would be the last time I would see her but I'm glad I got to say goodbye. Amanda was like a mother to me. Fly high Mama and watch over us. We love you.

My darling Amanda. How can I ever find the words to express my love for you. Though my heart is broken in a way I can not explain due your early departure from this world, I am so glad you have been set free from the sickness that has plagued you for the past 10 years. I know you are now at peace, able to breath once again and pain free in the arms of Christ. Thank you for being my soul mate, a mother, a grandmother and a dedicated partner who stood beside me through all our work adventures. You were truly the fiber that held our family together and the heartbeat that kept us alive. You were so amazing in every way. I will never understand why God blessed me with you. But I am so thankful for our time together. I will never forget your beautiful face, your loving touch, your warm smile and soothing voice. Until we meet again. Rest my love in the arms of Christ.

Truly sorry for your loss. Had some great times at the OBX with y'all. Just remembering the time Miss Amanda got lost trying to get off Shelley Island at night. She didn't think it was too funny at the time but I'm sure y'all had a great laugh about it later on. Rest in peace young lady
