Angi Corrothers

April 6, 1949 — February 20, 2016

Angil Marie Corrothers, 66, of Charlotte, NC, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2016 after an extended battle with cancer. Angi was born April 6, 1949, in Augusta, GA. She graduated from Vineland High School in Vineland, NJ, received her bachelor's degree from C.W. Post University in Brookville, NY and pursued her Master of Social Work at St. John's University in Jamaica, NY.

Angi spent 34 years as a case worker for U.S. Representatives Sue Myrick, Alex McMillan and James G. Martin from the 9th Congressional District of North Carolina. She worked tirelessly for constituents and took great pride in doing so. Angi enjoyed helping people and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Angi built her life around faith, family and friends. She loved singing gospel songs, home improvement projects, shopping and sewing. She was an avid gardener and shared the fruits of her green thumb with friends, neighbors and family alike. Angi enjoyed traveling, especially visiting her daughter and taking cruises. She was a prayer warrior with the Willing Vessels, a women's prayer group, and also spent quality time with her church family at Central Church of God where she is a member.

Angi is surived by her daughter, Joi Corrothers; her brother, Forrest Gunby; and many dear friends and treasured loved ones. She is preceded in death by her mother, Pearlie Mae Gunby; father, Rozier Gunby; and sister, Jimmie Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Church of God or C.W. Post University. The family offers special thanks to the caring and dedicated staff at Levine Cancer Institute, Carolinas Medical Center and Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster. -
