Robert Charles "Bob" Fest, 75, of Stallings, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 23, 2014. Born February 17, 1939, in Buffalo, NY, Bob was the son of the late Charles Lewis Fist and Mary P. Fest. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald N. Fest, his Aunt Carol Plank, and Samantha the Bloodhound. After graduating from West Seneca High School, he attended the University of Buffalo. Bob served in the US Air Force as an air traffic controller with NORAD Air Defense Command. Following service, he graduated from Erie Technical Institute in Buffalo with a degree in Mechanical Technology. Bob retired from National Gypsum as a senior mechanical engineer after 36 years of service. He was instrumental in the design of cement and gypsum wall board manufacturing equipment. He had many hobbies including deep sea fishing, Buffalo Bills football, and carpentry. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Barbara; sons, Michael Robert Fest of Monroe and Richard Charles Fest (Angela )of Waxhaw; stepchildren, Jennifer J. Prevatte of Charleston, SC and Brian Jones of Charlotte; two step grandchildren, Summer B. Jones and Jackson S. Jones; sister in law, Pat Fest of Hamburg, NY; nephew, Chris Fest (Tracy) of Boston, NY and Beverly Fest of Hamburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mill Grove United Methodist Church, Hospice of Charlotte, or the Humane Society. -
