Buford Monroe Lovett of Matthews, NC passed Sunday September 15th. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and colleague. Born April 14th, 1949 in Giles County, TN to Maggie and Elick Lovett. He was the second of four children, Peggy, Larry and Kathy. He was a graduate of Constantine High School in Constantine, Michigan; Class of 1967. Buford received his Bachelor of Art in Architecture from the University of Michigan in May 1971. Also, in May of 1971, Buford married his wife of 48 years, Patricia Houston, and they had a daughter Jennifer Lynn 5 years later. He worked as a Code Consultant and a Division Director for the State of Indiana. He worked for FP&C Consultants prior to founding Lovett Consultants in 1992.
Buford enjoyed wood working, was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and an active member of the Independence HOG Chapter in Charlotte, NC. He anticipated his yearly trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains with longtime friend, Dan Sullivan; as well as his weekly lunch rides with dear friend, Jim Pickler. He attended as many Bike Rallies in Daytona, FL, Myrtle Beach, SC and Sturgis, SD as possible. Buford embraced life and all the opportunities it offered. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Buford Lovett is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Jennifer; two granddaughters, Summer and April; and two sisters, Peggy and Kathy. Per his wishes, there will not be a public memorial service. To honor Buford, the family requests a donation be made in his name to help support Trooper Chris Wooten or Alzheimer’s research.
