Charles Ray Sturgill

Mr. Sturgill, 90, of Charlotte, went to be with his Heavenly Father Thursday, May 13, 2010. He was born June 2, 1919, in Sturgill, NC, to Victor Hugo Sturgill and Maude Alverta Sturgill. In addition to his parents, his three brothers, Mack, Raymond, and Blane, and sister, Effie Wallace precedes him in death. Mr. Sturgill retired from Celanese Corp. after 18 years. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Charles was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He lived a full life making memories that will never be forgotten. Mr. Sturgill is survived by his daughter, Charlotte S. Waters and her husband, Charles K. Waters; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Doran and husband, Robert C. Doran, Margaret Hooks and husband, Dan W. Hooks, and Catherine Clark Harris and husband, Nathan O. Harris, Caroline Perez and husband, Jay Perez, Charles D. Waters and wife Katie Pawlick; a sister-in-law, Carolyn E. Robinson. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Dallas, Brandon, Taylor, Morgan, Hannah, Elam, Felix, and Avery; one nephew, Wesley Alan Robinson and wife, Gretchen; one great niece, Tatum; and two great grand nephews, Ellis and Holden. Memorial services will be 3:00 PM, today, Saturday, May 15, 2010, in the sanctuary of Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211. The family will receive friends in the Church rotunda immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Providence Baptist Church Building Fund.
