Gary Stephen Franklin

Gary Franklin, of Rock Hill, SC, died unexpectedly on July 18, 2017 at Piedmont Medical Center, at the age of 70. He was born in Baltimore, MD. Gary was a 1965 graduate of Harding High School in Charlotte, NC. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS John F. Kennedy and was stationed in the Mediterranean. For the past 5 years Gary was the office manager for Rock City Heavy Haul in Rock Hill. Gary had his daddy's sense of humor and sense of family responsibility. He loved sending cartoons via email to make you laugh and he faithfully lived with his elderly mother and cared for his disabled wife the last years of their lives. He has given his family, friends, and co-workers memories beyond no other. Gary is survived by his sisters, Pam MacMillan and Debbie Garrison; brother-in-law, Jim Garrison; nephew, Matt Rankin; nieces, Kelly Stalnaker, Lindsey Avant, and Shannon Garrison; four great nephews and one great niece. Gary shared a lifelong friendship with Bobby and Nancy Duncan, having known Bobby for 60 years. He is the son of the late Ed and Nancy Franklin and husband of the late Sue Franklin.
