Gilbert Pickens Hammond

Mr. Hammond, 87, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 3, 2010, while in the care of Presbyterian Hospital. Gilbert was born January 23, 1923 in Kershaw, SC. He was the son of the late Ernest and Belle Hammond and is also preceded in death by his son, G.P. Hammond, Jr. Mr. Hammond was a member of Ebenezer Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Gilbert's immediate family includes his wife of 64 years, Nancy Culp Hammond of Charlotte; his daughter, Angie Macemore and her husband, Jerry, and granddaughter, Rachel, of Monroe; his daughter in law, Nina Hammond, of Hickory; a sister, Mildred Truesdale, of Heath Springs, SC. Visitation will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Ebenezer ARP Church, 6210 Old Pineville Rd. Charlotte, NC 28217. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family prefers that memorials be made to Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery Fund.
