Hugh C. Gotro Sr.

Hugh "Sonny" Charles Gotro, Sr, 72, passed away on September 21, 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Helen Gotro, sisters, Imogene Gerhart, and Yvonne Migra. He was born in Lorain, Ohio, where he resided his entire life. He retired from Centerior Energy in 1993, and also the Ohio Turnpike in 2005. Thoughtful, inspiring, and hard working was his passion. He cherished his time and memories with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and a loving heart. He enjoyed classic cars, model trains, and music. Hugh loved being a handy man to all of his family and friends. He was a former member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Police Association; Lodge 44. Also, Hugh loved being an assistant coach for his sons Lorain City Soccer teams. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Gotro (Huebner); their son Dr. H Sonny Gotro, Jr , and his wife, Sharon, their daughter Sheri Gotro Butler and her husband, Keith, and their son Dr. Brian Gotro and his wife, Lisa. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Zack, Connor, Adam, and Mia; and brother -in-laws John Alexander and his wife, Nancy, and William Gerhart. The North Carolina Visitation for friends and family will be held at Gaskin Funeral Services, 14617B West Lawyers Rd. Matthews, NC 28104, from 3PM until 5PM, Sunday, October 1, 2017. The Ohio Visitation for friends and family will be held at Broadway Assembly, 5495 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44052 (440-233-8575) from 3PM until 6PM Saturday, October 14, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will occur at 5PM, during visitation. - - -
