Kenneth "Ken" Holloway

December 15, 1946 — May 4, 2018

Ken was born on December 15, 1946 in Paterson, NJ to Jean Roe Holloway and the late Edward Holloway. He has two sisters, Sharon and Doris. Ken grew up in Little Falls and Paterson, NJ. Ken was a Boy Scout and his love of scouting continued as an adult. Ken served as a Cub Scout Pack Leader, Asst. Scoutmaster, Charter Rep and various other capacities during his scouting service. After graduating high school, Ken joined the Air Force. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. When Ken returned home, he married his beloved Donna. Ken and Donna were devoted to one another and their family for almost 50 years. Ken and Donna had two children, Bruce Holloway and Christine Clare. Christine and her husband, Greg Clare, blessed Ken and Donna with two grandchildren, Victoria Clare and Tyler Clare. Bruce and his wife, Dawn, blessed Ken and Donna with another grandson, James Holloway. Ken's love of trains began his very first Christmas when he received the first of many American Flyer trains. Ken enjoyed riding on trains, and Donna, his children and grandchildren were often with him. He loved steam engines and thought that the open cars were the only way to ride. Ken and Donna shared a dream to have their own business. Twenty-five years ago this month they started Safety Specialists, Inc. Their daughter, Christine worked with Ken for over twenty years. Together, Ken and Christine trained and advised companies from coast to coast. Ken was a faithful member of Mill Grove United Methodist Church. He served Kairos Prison Ministry for 23 years. Ken also volunteered with Common Heart, serving in the food pantry and delivery. Ken gave of his time to serve others. Ken touched many lives during his time on this Earth. Ken was always there with a story, a joke, a restaurant review and a helping hand. Ken leaves behind quite a legacy. The family would like to thank Mint Hill Fire & Rescue for their efforts.
