Mary Lou Nettles Lentz

Mary Lou Nettles Lentz, after living life to the fullest, died surrounded by family on January 10, 2013. Mary Lou was born February 24, 1927, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Jamie and Virgie Nettles. She attended Converse College and USC before settling in Charlotte to raise her sons. In later life, she worked as a real estate agent and cherished living at Garden City Beach for fifteen years. A lifelong bridge player, and famous for her sweet tea, Mary Lou loved and was loved by her many, many friends. She was devoted to her family and deeply proud to have raised sons who are such good friends. She was thrilled to have so many granddaughters, though she declared recently while cuddling a great-grandson, "I know all about little boys, I had four!" Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Sabin Nettles. She is survived by brother Clyde Nettles; children, Ed Lentz (Barb), Steve Lentz, Mike Lentz (Glennis), and Jim Lentz (Sandy); grandchildren, Melissa James (Derek), Courtney Evans (Joe), Stephanie Lentz, Jamie Lentz (Jared), Jim Lentz (Gina), Jamie Lentz (Katy), and Taylor Lentz; and twelve great- grandchildren.
