Shirley Spence

July 21, 1941 — June 24, 2017

Shirley Lamb Spence, 75, of Mount Gilead, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 24, 2017. Mrs. Spence was born July 21,1941 in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Harry Henslee and Blanche Eileen Lamb Henslee. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph James Spence, and has so longed to be with him since his passing in April, 2010. Before her health declined, she was employed with Walmart and looked forward to her time there and her responsibilities with that company in Customer Service. When she wasn't busy with her career or spending time with her family, she loved to play bingo and go fishing with her late husband. Shirley was a very modest woman, humble, and giving. She loved her family and was so proud of her grandchildren. She was a person who showed her love for her Lord and Savior through her deeds for others. Until her last breath, her room was filled with gospel music. Her immediate family includes her children, Shari Smith and her husband, Wayne, and Mark Spence; her brothers, Steve and Mike Henslee; her grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Spence, Brandi Eileen Hargett, Kayci Lynn Hargett, Alexis Marie Spence; and her great grandchildren, Alissa Ann Laney, A.J. Laney, and Greyson Arron Reid Dorton. For those that wish to honor the family please make donations directly to: Shari Smith, 8117 Twin Harbor Dr. Mount Gilead, NC 27306 -
