Susan Marshall Nance

March 11, 1944 — March 5, 2018

Susan Marshall Nance, also known to many as Susu, from Charlotte, died at the age of 73 on March 5, 2018 after a seven year battle with cancer. Her strength, kindness and joy will not be forgotten by those who knew her. Susan was born on March 11, 1944 and grew up in Asheville. She is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Janet Marshall. She had fond memories of going to Lee Edwards High School. Susan had one daughter, Shannon, and she called her and her seven grandchildren the "joy of her life". Susan and her husband, Kelton, have been married 39 years and enjoyed running a business, socializing and traveling together. They have many dear friends. Susan had the gift of kindness and hospitality and her house was always open! As Kelton said, "she was a friend to all". She was an amazing cook and had a yard full of flowers and birds. Susan's smile lit up a room and even as she fought cancer, she took time to know, love and thank those who cared for her. Susan is survived by her husband, Kelton, her daughter, Shannon Collins and son-in-law, Mark, her grandchildren; Elijah, Macall, Brynn, Nathan, Hudson, Beza and Addia, her sister-in-law, Velma Harward, sister Aileen Hoyle (Jimmy), brother, Butch Marshall (Patsy) and nieces and nephews. A time to celebrate her life will be held at Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews on March 8, 2018 at 4:30. Visitation will follow the service. Donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care 7845 Little Avenue Charlotte NC 28226. -
