INDIAN TRAIL, NC - Mrs. Sylvia Dean “Deanie” Carter, 73, passed away peacefully, in her home, in her children’s arms, on Monday, March 27, 2023, due to cancer.
Please join us in celebrating her life, 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at First Baptist Church Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Indian Trail. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, at the church. Graveside services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church Indian Trail Cemetery.
Deanie loved flowers and bright colors, so please dress appropriately, in honor of her.
She was born on June 14, 1949, at Union Memorial Hospital in Monroe, NC, daughter of the late William Ira and Lola Delphia Deese Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Eugene Carter; brothers, William Ira Simpson, Jr., James “Dub” Simpson, Sr. and Phillip Leon Simpson; and sisters, Marie Simpson Walters, Margaret Simpson Mills and Janie Simpson Baucom.
Dean loved her people well and made everyone around her feel very loved, accepted and welcome. She was a model for unconditional love and forgiveness. Dean was constantly serving and giving even until her last breath. She loved singing in the choir, scrapbooking, flowers and gardening, helping others in need, visiting people in nursing homes and the hospital, and loved making people feel and look beautiful. Her huge love for her children and grandchildren was clearly evident and truly unmatched. The only thing that was greater than this was her love for her Lord and Savior.
Deanie is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Dean Seay and husband, Sean and their 3 children, Boone, Bryson and Lola; her son, David Richard Daniel, Jr. and wife Amy and their 3 children, Gracie, Josey and Trevor; daughter, Hayley Evette Laney and husband, Brian and their 2 children, Weston and Waylan. She is also survived by her sister, Sarah Elizabeth Williams; brother, Earl Van Simpson; brother Norman Darrell Simpson and wife, Mary Morgan Simpson; brother, Bruce Mitchell Simpson and wife, Linda Rankin Simpson; and sister, Sandra Delphia Simpson. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
