Martha Jane Keeling Foley went home to be with her Lord on January 9th, 2020. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Ted and Irene Keeling; her grandparents Otho & Alice Caldwell; and her son, Christopher Daniel Foley; as well as many other family members who predeceased her. She is survived by Perry Foley – her husband of 54 years; her son, Justin Foley, her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Chris Barton and their son, Brandon; her granddaughter, Chelsea Foley; her sister, Carolyn Keeling; and her brother and sister-in-law, Edward & Gaynelle Keeling; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Martha - “Jane” as she was most commonly known - was born in DeQueen, Arkansas on February 10, 1946. Her family moved several years later to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she met Perry Foley and they married in 1965. Jane’s parents and siblings formed a Gospel singing group called the “Keeling Gospel Singers” when she was very young and they had a 15-minute radio broadcast on KPIK in Colorado Springs called “Send the Light” in which Jane played the piano, her dad played the guitar and the family would sing a few songs after which her mother, Irene, would preach a short sermon. Later on, the group expanded to include sons-in-law and they traveled around Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas singing about Jesus and sharing the Good News of the Gospel. As the family grew to include children and grandchildren they were also taught to sing with the family.
Jane and Perry moved to Mooresville, North Carolina on her birthday in 1980, and lived there and the surrounding area until her death. During her later years she started her own business called “Music with Martha Jane” for which she would provide music and singing during the activity hours at various nursing homes and eldercare facilities in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. This was not only her business but it was her ministry and she loved to see the joy on the faces of the residents when she would play old, familiar tunes for them. She will be missed most for this and will be remembered for her love for Jesus, Music and her family.
